Purser testified as follows. On the night of the murder, she was looking out the second-floor window of her apartment. She saw two men standing on the sidewalk below, one of whom had a bicycle. The man with the bicycle looked up at her. Both men were standing next to a street light and the street was bright and clear. After they talked for ten to fifteen minutes, the man with the bicycle crossed into the street, at which point Stone walked up to him, stopping about fifteen feet away. They stood there for about a minute and a half before Purser heard two "pow-pows." Trial Tr. 645. Stone ran away, and the man with the bicycle crossed back to the other man on the sidewalk, again looking up at Purser. The man with the bicycle then fled on his bicycle. Purser viewed a lineup of potential shooters on September 30, 1994. She told the detective at the lineup that Jones's "face wanted to look like the same person [she] saw at the window there." Trial Tr. 758. Purser noted, though, that she was "not one hundred percent sure" that the person she picked out of the lineup was the man on the bicycle. She also identified Jones in court, saying again that his face "wants to look like" the face of the man on the bicycle. Trial Tr. 760.
Englebert testified as follows. Coming out of the subway station on the night of the murder, he saw a police car rush by with its sirens and lights on. Soon after, he saw a man speed past on a blue and white bicycle. As he walked home, he passed a man lying on the ground, surrounded by people. Englebert identified Jones as the man on the bicycle at a lineup on September 30, 1994. He also identified Jones in court as the man on the bicycle. Further, Englebert identified a photo of a bicycle recovered from Jones's apartment as the same one that he had seen the man riding on the night of the murder.

Bloodshed in Biloxi    Panic spreads through a Mississippi town when Clarissa Lynn Jarrett disappears. With no body and little evidence, no one can solve this mystery. Only when a secret is revealed do detectives unravel a tale of deadly obsession that leads them to one greedy guy.

On November 12, 1996, Michael Blane Dowda was working in Orlando, Florida when he received a message that his girlfriend, Clarissa Lynn Jarrett, was going to a concert with her sister in Gulf Shores, Alabama.   Dowda apparently drove non-stop from Orlando to the home he shared with Jarrett in Mississippi.   Prior to leaving Florida, however, he obtained a .380 semi-automatic handgun.   He arrived in Mississippi at approximately two o'clock in the morning on November 13, 1996.   Jarrett arrived home some four hours later.

Dowda confronted Jarrett concerning her whereabouts and an argument ensued.   Dowda then threatened to kill himself with the gun.   Dowda did not kill himself, but instead removed the clip from the gun, placed the gun in the closet and resumed arguing with Jarrett.   At some point in the argument Jarrett admitted to having sexual relations with other men.   Dowda then took the gun from
the closet, pressed the gun tightly against Jarrett's head and pulled the trigger, killing her instantly.   Dowda apparently believed the gun to be unloaded because he had removed the clip from the gun.   Instead, one bullet had remained in the chamber ready to be fired.

Dowda then buried Jarrett's body in a shallow grave near a hotel in Harrison County.   He fled Mississippi several days later after he became the prime suspect in the police investigation.   Dowda surfaced in Las Vegas, Nevada, in February 1997, when the woman he was living with at the time contacted the Las Vegas police.   She was concerned because she had found several notes written by Dowda indicating that he was wanted for murder in Mississippi.   The Las Vegas police confirmed that there was an outstanding warrant for grand larceny for Dowda.   The Harrison County Sheriff's Department also indicated to the Las Vegas police that Dowda was also wanted for questioning over Jarrett's disappearance.

Murder in the Night Alec Devon Kreider

Alex sued Philhaven for treatment he received while he was a teenager. He committed suicide by hanging on Jan. 20 of 2017 while he was serving life for three counts of first degree homicide. As someone who spent most of their adulthood in Lancaster county, I can tell you these murders were absolutely shocking. Things like this simply don't happen here, until they do.

Out of the Past    When teen Sherita Williams meets an untimely death after a quick trip to the nail salon everyone in Pennsauken, New Jersey is shocked. Police dig up a cast of potential villains but when the true killer appears, they find he's in a class all his own.    

Warren Dixon was not originally a suspect. He was convicted of aggravated manslaughter and attempted aggravated sexual assault and must serve eighty-five percent of a twenty year sentence. He had previously been convicted of selling marijuana and conspiracy to commit robbery. Sherrita's family worked tirelessly to make sure the murder was solved. It was solved when Dixon had to provide DNA for a drug charge. It was that DNA that linked him to the murder. She refused to have sex with him, so he killed her.

Texas Terror Kevin Edison Smith

Texas Terror Discovery ID describes this episode as when thirteen-year-old Texas City girl Krystal Baker is found dead off the banks of the Galveston Bay, investigators round up a herd of suspects. But with little physical evidence on the scene, it takes a dedicated detective to solve this case.  

Kevin Edison Smith was convicted of Capital Murder in the state of Texas, which carries an automatic life sentence. He was arrested because his DNA was on file for a prior drug offense when cold case detectives opted to retest the dress Krystal had been wearing. He was spared the death penalty as he is suspected of other Texas murders of missing girls.

During the interview, appellant testified that he picked up a girl he believed to be named “Michelle” and, after she told him she was 18-years-old, he paid her for  sex.    “Michelle”  performed  oral  sex  on  him,  but  “freaked  out”  after  he ejaculated on her.  Appellant said that he pleaded with her to be quiet so that others at the gas station nearby would not hear.  When she would not comply, he began to choke  her  with  his  hands.    When  pressed  about  whether  he  used  a  ligature  rather than his hands, appellant admitted that he grabbed the strap to a bucket and choked her with that.  He “freaked out” when he realized that she was not breathing and began to drive.  He then dumped her body under the Trinity River Bridge
