Big Sky Burning Richard Covington

Munson's screaming caught the attention of workers on a nearby rooftop. The workers saw Covington use the alleyway entrance of the Billings Brewpub. The Billings Police Department (Police) recovered various items from the Brewpub bathroom that evening. These items included a makeshift panty hose mask with holes cut for eyes, a knife, handcuffs, and pepper spray. Police conducted a DNA test on the recovered panty hose mask.

Detective Blake Richardson (Richardson) suspected that Covington may have committed the robbery based on Richardson's previous encounters with Covington. Richard Covington lived in the area of the robbery. Covington previously had committed a robbery with a knife. Covington also matched the physical description provided by Munson.

 Police compared the DNA from the panty hose mask to a DNA sample that Covington voluntarily had provided in a contemporaneous, and unrelated, homicide investigation for the deaths of Norman Leighton, Patty Hubbert, and Gerald Morris. The homicide investigation revealed that Covington possessed intimate knowledge, not publicly available, of the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Leighton and Hubbert. Police also identified Covington as the last person seen with Morris before his death. Police accordingly considered Covington a person of interest for the homicides

Writing on the Wall this episode is described by Discovery ID as:   the brutal slaying of 32-year-
old Stacie Ann Smith, a single mother, has the townsfolk of St.Albans, West Virginia reeling. The murderer's message at the crime scene baffles investigators and citizens are shocked that a killer lives in their midst.    

 This happened in the state of West Virginia. Timothy Sutherland was originally charged with failing to register as a sex offender. He was originally wanted as a potential witness prior to his arrest.  Ultimately he confessed to the murder. Stacie's mother, Marlene Hardwick, who is deceased, claims a Dr. Castro got her addicted to drugs and then forced her to sell them leading to her murder.

Joseph Hardwick admitted in court he was paid fifty dollars to get rid of Stacie's car after the murder.  Southerland was sentenced to life in prison.

In 2009, Mr. Sutherland was living temporarily at the home of his cousin, Stacie Smith, in St. Albans, West Virginia. In the early morning hours of December 28, 2009, Mr. Sutherland got into an argument with Ms. Smith in her bedroom. The argument involved a comment made by Mr. Sutherland that Ms. Smith's boyfriend did not treat her properly. During the argument, Ms. Smith called Mr. Sutherland a “junkie”. Mr. Sutherland became outraged at being called a drug addict and left the bedroom. He then went into the kitchen and smoked a cigarette. Within a few minutes, he returned to the bedroom carrying a butcher knife. Mr. Sutherland fatally stabbed Ms. Smith on the right side of her neck as she laid on the bed. Before fleeing the scene of the murder, Mr. Sutherland took Ms. Smith's cell phone, credit card, money, and car keys. He also wrote the words “Cheating Whore” on a living room wall in the house


The police arrested Mr. Sutherland in an abandoned trailer on December 30, 2009. The police initially arrested Mr. Sutherland on an outstanding warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. Subsequent to his arrest, Mr. Sutherland confessed to killing Ms. Smith. In April 2010, a grand jury indicted Mr. Sutherland on charges of first degree murder and first degree robbery. After a three-day trial in March 2011, a jury returned a verdict convicting Mr. Sutherland of first degree murder, without a recommendation of mercy; the jury acquitted Mr. Sutherland of first degree robbery.

One Deadly Night Robert Taylor

One Deadly Night is described as Discovery ID as: the gruesome discovery of 24-year old Zilpha Lowery's body has folks in Marion, NC baffled. It's a frustrating case that sets police off on a wild ride through the victim's past until a decade old lead helps police catch a killer.   

This happened in the state of North Carolina. Robert Taylor  was arrested for this murder after  his accessory told the truth about what happened that night.

Zilpha disappeared in 1993, however he body was not found for years.

Flames of Passion Theresa Voss

Flames of Passion is described by Discovery ID as the discovery of Troy Temar's charred remains in Lebanon Ohio rattles the nerves of its residents. Police are led astray for 6 years until an accomplice's confession exposes a sinister plot orchestrated by a devious killer linked to Troy's past.

Theresa Voss was caught when her brother, Eric Hoerlein told police what she had done. He plead guilty to abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

She was convicted in 2006 and sentenced to thirty-three years to life.

The case remained "cold" until September of 2005, when a convicted felon, Eric Hoerlein, all of the sudden confessed his involvement to

hisprobation officer and Warren County investigators. This man, who escaped prosecution for aggravated murder by testifying, revealed that Ms. Voss called him for help after being involved in a struggle with Temar. He went tothe scene with her and poured gasoline over the car and body in order to start a fire and eliminate evidence.

Murder 101 Daniel Woloson

Murder 101    Residents are struck with fear when the strangled body of 21-year-old Susan Schumake is found in Carbondale, Illinois. Lack of evidence stumps cops for more than two decades, but new technology leads detectives in a direction they never expected.    

 Daniel Woloson was caught twenty three years later via DNA. I expect he thought he would never be caught.

He was sentenced to forty years in prison in 2006.
